Spring Nationals

The 2005 Masters Diving Indoor “Spring” Invitational Championships were held at the University of Buffalo,Alumni Arena Pool, Buffalo, N.Y., May 6-8, 2005. Karla Helder, Meet Director and Masters Coordinator. David Farmer and staff, meet managers. Approximately 48 divers attended this meet, site of the 1987 and 1995 Indoor Championships.

VIth World Masters Games

The diving portion of the VIth World Masters Games was held at the Kinsman Sports Center, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, July 25-28 2005. Hosted by the Alberta Diving Association. Meet Director- Barbara Bush Dauphinais; Referee and Head Judge-Taunya Haley; Meet Manager-Steve Flewwelling. There were two formats: (1) FINA Mod. A (Munich/Melbourne) for regular divers, and (2) Modified FINA (reduced) for novices. 110 divers registered; 99 divers participated. There were some close contests, and due to the “uncontrolled exuberance” of the judging, especially in the older age groups, many new records were set.

Summer Nationals

The 2005 (Summer) U.S. Masters National Outdoor Invitational Diving Championships were held at the Mission Viejo Nadadores Aquatics Center, Mission Viejo, California, August 19-21, 2005. K.Z. Li,Janet Ely Lagourque, meet managers. Frederick Fox, Meet Director and Masters Coordinator. Approximately 67 divers participated.

Spring Nationals

The 2006 (Spring) U.S. Masters National Indoor Invitational Diving Championships were held at the A.R. Barr Aquatics Complex, SMU University, Dallas, Texas, April 29-May 1, 2006. Jim Stillson and MITS staff, meet managers. Joan S. Chalkley, Meet Director and Masters Coordinator. 45 divers registered; 43 divers participated (2 sustained shoulder separations during practice.)

The 2006 (Summer) U.S. Masters National Outdoor Invitational Diving Championships were held at the AAF Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, Pasadena, California, August 5-7, 2006. Roland King and Rose Bowl staff, meet managers. Felix Grossman, Meet Director and Masters Coordinator. 70 divers participated.

XIth FINA World Masters Aquatic Championships

The diving portion of the XIth FINA World Masters Aquatic Championships was held at the Avery Aquatics Center, Maas Diving Pool, Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, August 13 – 16,2006. David Cotton, Meet Director; Michael Moore, FINA Events Manager. 175 divers participated. There were some very close competitions as can be seen by some of the scores, many by less than 1 point.

The 2007 (Fall) U.S. Masters National Invitational Diving Championships were held at the Nassau County Aquatics Center, Eisenhower Park, Long Island, N.Y. (site of the 1999 Goodwill Games), September 15-17, 2007. George Taylor III and staff, meet managers. Ed Richmond, Masters Chairman and Masters Coordinator. 62 divers participated. Two new American records were set.

Spring Nationals

The 2008 (Spring) U.S. Masters National Indoor Invitational Diving Championships were held at the University of Tennessee Allan Jones Aquatic Center, Knoxville, TN. May 17-19th, 2008. Dave Parrington and staff, meet managers, along with DiveMeets.Com, run by Karen Minser. Ed Richmond, Masters Chairman, Meet Director and Masters Coordinator. 47 divers participated. This was a brand new facility with our meet being the first major one held there.

Summer Nationals

The 2008 (Summer) U.S. Masters National Outdoor Invitational Diving Championships were held at the Woodlands Aquatic Center, The Woodlands, Houston, Texas. August 22-24, 2008. Bob Gunter and staff, meet managers, along with DiveMeets.Com, run by Joelle Cabassol. Ed Richmond,Masters Chairman and Masters Coordinator. 62 divers participated. This was the fourth time our Masters National Championships have been held here (1982, 1988, 1993, and 2008), and the last major meet before this wonderful and historic facility will be torn down. As usual there were some very close contests, and as usual the judging in certain events left a lot to be desired. Some new American and World records were set as indicated.

The diving portion of the XIIth FINA World Masters Aquatic Championships was held at the Challenge Aquatics Center, Clairmont, Perth Australia, April 20-24, 2008. Tom Hoad, Executive Director. Robyn Arlow and staff, Meet Managers. Darrell Hocking, Meet Director. 82 divers registered, 80 participated. There were some very close contests, and many new records were set.

The 2009 (Spring) U.S. Masters National Indoor Invitational Diving Championships were held at the University of Arizona Hillenbrand Aquatic Center, Tucson, AZ, May 1-3, 2009. Dr. Michelle Mitchell and staff, meet managers, along with DiveMeets.Com. Ed Richmond, Masters Chairman, Meet Director and Masters Coordinator. This was a brand new facility and we were privileged to be there. 50 Divers participated. There were some very close contests and two records were set, both by women.

Meet Director and Meet Manager, David Dawson, along with DiveMeets.Com. 51 divers participated. There were some extremely close scores in several events as indicated. There was one American record set in women’s tower diving.

The diving portion of the VIIth World Masters Games was held at the site of the 2000 Olympic Games pool, Sydney Olympic Sports Park, Sydney, Australia October 10-18, 2009. Hosted by the New South Wales Diving Organization. Chairperson, Clarissa Luxford. Competition Manager, Gillian Brooker. Chief Referee. Eric Brooker. Sports Liaison Coordinator. Josie Molloy.71 divers participated in this modified (10-year age bracket) event. There were several “unofficial” records set.
